INSIGHTAotearoa is a newsletter which is dedicated to supporting individuals and communities in Aotearoa New Zealand who practice insight meditation, a practice which has its heart in the teachings of Siddhattha Gotama, the man known as the Buddha. It is sent out monthly by email or by post to those who ask for it.
Key to insight meditation is being present with the moment and learning to be at ease with the unfolding conditions of life in order to reveal deep wisdom, compassion and intimacy. To find out more about insight meditation take a look through the Digital Library and explore this site.
We see ourselves as following in the spirit of Gaia House in Devon, England, the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, and Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California, as well as being part of the insight meditation community that is developing around the world.
An independent publication, INSIGHTAotearoa grew out of Wellington Insight Meditation Community and now circulates countrywide as well as overseas. Click on CURRENT ISSUE to read the most recent one and on PAST ARCHIVES to read older issues.
This newsletter is edited by Christine Dann in Port Levy and Kanya Stewart in New Plymouth, with contributions from others, some regularly and others occasionally. Caren Wilton in Wellington keeps this website up to date. To send an email to Christine click here and to write to Kanya click here.
